Standard 1: Students
Teachers understand student learning and development, and respect the diversity of the students they teach.
- Created a formative, 'Get-To-Know-You' Student Questionnaire to learn about student interests, learning preferences and exposure to foreign languages
Standard 2: Content
Teachers know and understand the content area for which they have instructional responsibility.
- Created a curriculum map for French courses, levels 1-3
- Created an engaging 'Fast Connection' interview activity to enhance student speaking abilities
- Created a CLIPS video listing Classroom Objects for French 1 Students
Standard 3: Assessment
Teachers understand and use varied assessments to inform instruction, evaluate, and ensure student learning.
- Developed and implemented SLO (Student Learning Objective) assessments with 90% success rate three years in the row
- Created IPA (Integrated Performance Assessments) with detailed rubrics on following themes: Family Tree, French Cuisine & Recipes, Art Critiques, Tourism and Travel, Clothing & Fashion Shows.
- Created a Summative Communication Assessment form for speaking exercises
Standard 4: Instruction
Teachers plan and deliver effective instruction that advances the learning of each individual student.
- Developed and executed a UDL (Universal Design for Learning) lesson plans
- Utilized classroom technologies such as: Kahoot, Quizlet, Duolingo, Nearpod, Conjuguemos, Skype etc. to deliver engaging lessons and student activities and conduct formative assessments
Standard 5: Learning Environments
Teachers create learning environments that promote high levels of learning and achievement for all students.
- Designed, organized and implemented a Flexible and Functional Seating stations in my classroom
- Organized four out-of-state class trips to New Orleans, LA; Québec City, Canada; New York City, NY;
- and Toronto & Niagara Falls, Canada.
- Organized two in-state field trips to Mansfield Art Center and Cleveland Museum of Art
Standard 6: Collaboration & Communication
Teachers collaborate and communicate with students, parents, other educators, administrators, and the community to support student learning.
- Collaborated with Math teacher(s) to develop a cross-curricular lesson involving a geometry activity and a cultural lesson about the Eiffel Tower and Pie (à la mode) day.
- Organized two National French Week celebrations involving an art project dedicated to Katrina victims and a fund-raiser benefiting Haiti hurricane survivors
- Created a personal teacher website using Weebly.com to communicate course descriptions and classroom expectations, provide valuable student resources, and highlight of Fun French Facts and overall reasons to learn French language. http://madamevioleta.weebly.com/
- Designed a personal post-card to communicate with parents regarding student accomplishments.
- Put together a YouTube video/slide-show highlighting French language activities
Standard 7: Professional Responsibility & Growth
Teachers assume responsibility for professional growth, performance, and involvement as an individual as a member of a learning community.
- Attended a number of professional development trainings and workshops including state and national HSTW (High Schools That Work) conferences, OFLA (Ohio Foreign Language Association) Workshops, and OETC (Ohio Educational Technology Conference).
- Participated and was actively engaged in various school organizations, committees and functions including Yearbook Advising, Academic Challenge Advising, Technical Coaching, and was a member of BLT (Building Leadership Team), RTI (Response to Intervention) committees, and NHS selection committees.
- Presented at Ohio School Improvement Institute 2018 Conference. OSII session was about Student Accountability through ICU.
- Presented at GHS In-Service Training a session about Implementing Flexible Seating Classrooms.
